How you can help

how can one help

We reach out to the homeless community, continually needing hygiene products.  We provide food and clothing to homeless communities in different locations, rent motel rooms during extreme weather to ensure safety for the vulnerable, and supply clothes and essentials for individuals transitioning out of incarceration. Throughout the year, we teach in various prisons, and your financial contributions help cover transportation, maintenance, and supplies for copies and handouts.  Most importantly keep our teams in prayer, prayer is the most powerful weapon.

Recent statistics about homelessness in Texas:

  • In January 2024, the Point-In-Time (PIT) count identified 10,081 people experiencing homelessness within the Texas Balance of State Continuum of Care (CoC) geography1.
  • 37% of these individuals were sheltered, living in emergency shelters or transitional housing, while 63% were unsheltered.
  • The Texas Homeless Data Sharing Network (THDSN) reported that 49,567 individuals experienced homelessness in Texas in 2021, reflecting a 21.2% increase from the previous year.

Recent statistics about Texas prisons:

  • As of April 2024, there were 132,955 inmates in Texas prison facilities.
  • Nearly 40,000 Texans are released from state prisons every year, with almost 50% rearrested within three years.
  • 60% of inmates are incarcerated for violent offenses, 15% for drug-related offenses, and 9% for property offenses.
  • The average inmate age is 41 years old, reflecting an aging population.
  • 46.5% of prison inmates are rearrested within three years, with 14.7% reincarcerated.

These statistics underscore the persistent challenges within the Texas prison system and the homeless community, emphasizing the importance of support for individuals transitioning out of incarceration. Additionally, they highlight the critical need for resources and assistance to effectively address homelessness in Texas.
